Ottobock was founded in Berlin in 1919 by prosthetist Otto Bock to help large numbers of World War I veterans. It pioneered the manufacture of standardised prosthetic components. Now headquartered in Duderstadt, Germany, and still family-owned, Ottobock employs around 9,000 people worldwide. Its prosthetics range includes the C-Leg and Genium microprocessor knees, the Michelangelo and bebionic hands, and a broad portfolio of feet and elbows.
